RUNNING ON EMPTY A tank Half Full
While driving and making a Tuesday tip it hit me that I needed gas in the ole TACO, I looked, and I was at half a tank. I have made it a habit in the winter, especially just around, to fill up half a tank. It does not feel as painful while paying at the pump. Mostly it is because I have about a 22-gallon tank and a full 5.5-gallon emergency gas can in the back, so if there is an emergency I need to react to, I am never with less than roughly ¾ of a tank. So I not only won't have to stop for gas delaying a response to an emergency, but if I have an emergency while out and about, I have a fuel buffer in the truck and one less worry.

Now I understand entirely running down to ¼ or even a 1/8th of a tank while on the highway going from place to place. Still, I have that 5.5-gallon emergency can, and I always keep a close eye on traffic, Road conditions, changing weather conditions, and how far I am from the next exit and gas stop. Trust me; it sucks to run out of gas. It sucks even more if there is an emergency AND you run out of fuel, adding to the emergency.
